MAUI STRONG fundraising efforts by the Moana Nui Podcast

Burning Spear and the Moana Nui podcast are raising funds to help our community in Maui as they recover from the damaging fires in Lahaina and the surrounding areas. Hundreds of homes have burnt to the ground, many have been found dead, and thousands are still missing. Your generous donations and purchases will help those who need it most.

All proceeds raised from the sale of these items will go directly towards Maui disaster relief efforts!

ʻAʻohe hana nui ke alu ʻia.  No task is too big when done together by all.

IntentionTo Malama the Emotional, Mental & Spiritual Well-being of Kanaka Maoli affected directly and indirectly by the Maui Fires; inclusive of Lahaina, Kula, and Kihei. This modern pu’uhonua opens space for first responders, volunteers that were in Lahaina, and families directly affected by the fires and are on O’ahu. We will focus on these understandings:

  • Ho’oma’ema’e - To clean and cleanse
  • Ho’oku’u - To release
  • Ho’omana - To regain energy

Help a Childhood Friend  - Momi Tupou is a lifelong friend to Moana. Her familyʻs home was one of the many entirely destroyed. She is like a sister to Moana and your donations will be very special to us.

Directly Help to Families In Need - Over 1,000 families in need of assistance.

Maui Rapid Response - Maui Rapid Response is an ahupuaʻa-based disaster response team made up of individuals from the Maui community and a number of nonprofit and direct-aid organizations. As a decentralized citizen collective, Maui Rapid Response is driven entirely by community values and needs, with a commitment to prioritizing support for native Hawaiians and vulnerable members of our local community. The organization is funded by the Maui Mutual Aid Fund which is administered by their nonprofit fiscal sponsor Grants Central Station.
